Prison Project ~ Maine Hospice Council

The Maine Hospice Council has had a Hospice program within the prison for 6 years. The Council Executive Director Kandyce Powell, has trained two classes of volunteers who have assisted their peers who have been on the Hospice program.

I will be training the current classes, the third class of new volunteers, as well as  staff members, about Alzheimer’s disease and the related dementias. This will be an 8 hour training covering many topics that will assist them in providing compassionate care to their peers who are struggling with Alzheimer’s disease.
