This is a 3 hour training in Alzheimer’s / dementia awareness for clergy of ALL denominations.  The program is sponsored by the Episcopal Dioceses of Rhode Island and Western Massachusetts, through a grant from Province 1 of the Episcopal Church. The training will be an overview of Alzheimer’s disease, a clarification of the various types of dementia, risk factors, warning signs, effective communications skills and available resources.  The goal is for clergy to be alert to signs that they are seeing in their parishioners and how they can assist and support them through the disease process in a caring, compassionate manner.

Stage 2 of this program will a 12 hour training program for lay people who will assist their clergy in individual parishes, as well as be available to clergy and families throughout the dioceses who are struggling with Alzheimer’s or one of the related dementias.
